The Windows XP operating system’s main problem…even more for the professional edition.

You probably waited 10 secs to see this page.
Let me show you how you will make your pc be from 50%-80% faster
I had this problem to the max.I have a very good pc that should run extremely fast for it’s system specifications and it was running way under.
My PC is a custom PC out of nowhere..tried to find out what it is but no luck.. i might be the only one having this PC
It has a 3.1 GHz processor, ASUS P4B533 motherboard, 2048MB SDRAM and a 512 MB ATI Sapphire Pro x1650 graphics card..and it was working like …. so i started to try different techiques of making my pc fly like it should and tried them over and over again and if it improoved my pc the percentage would be like 10%.And for my extremely underperforming PC it just wasnt enough. And i was tired of visiting friends that have lower specs but better pc’s overall.
Now here is how i made my PC work the way i wanted. And the way i wanted it to run was like it was a fresh install of XP or watever..finally it took me like 2 days but i got what i wanted so i’m bringing this guide to you
>First thing you should do..well let’s start with the things that cost you less time eh?
1.If you’re not in dual booting you should go to START>Run>and type “Msconfig.exe” and when you got there go to BOOT.INI and reduce the Timeout to 3 seconds
2.While you’re in MSConfig you should also check for the services and startup tabs and tune them the way you want
I recommend if you want to make a program not start up with windows you better do that from the program’s preferences/options.That is because some programs which have the setting to start up with windows will not care about what msconfig says. Example: Daemon Tools
About the services..remove only the program’s services that you have installed and you don’t want to run and leave the rest alone…we’ll take care of them later with an windows certified program
3.If graphics is one of your problems you should also get rid of graphic effects
Go to start>Control Panel>System and click the advanced tab then click the settings under performance
if you want to keep your windows looking fine disable only the graphic effects there.
4.Another thing you should do is uninstalling software you don’t use or software you can replace with lite versions that don’t require install..This is a crucial step so i recommend you do this very well.Verify the list more than twice and think well about what you don’t need
5.You should also speed up ram.To do that go to start>Control Panel>System and go to the advanced tab and click the settings under performance(just like above)
Now go to advanced tab and under Virtual memory click Modify
Change initial size to the same value as maximum size and click *set(*may vary)
6.Another thing you should do..probably
Are you a mozilla fan?
Well let me ask you something.. have you ever clicked a link and waited a lot of time or have you ever tried to just launch mozilla and waited same time?
Crazy thing man yesterday i was a mozilla fan too but i’ll let you know what changed my mind so u’ll choose
a. Mozilla runs from tons of resources(Do a test watch an youtube video on mozilla and then on internet explorer and chech the processor while doing that{Alt+Ctrl+Delete})
b.Internet explorer’s got support for all sites…just yesterday i visited a site from which mozilla was disconnecting prematurely while internet explorer was a lot more patient and actually faster(flyupload.com to test that too{by uploading a file})
c.I find the fullscreen option more handy on internet explorer(F11)
d.I mentioned before that mozilla takes too much time to load
So i recommend that you switch to internet explorer or opera which i find actually better than internet explorer overall
Next steps are going to take more time
*7.I found some great tools certified by Microsoft
Those are Uniblue SpeedUp my PC,Driver Scanner and registry booster and they are really doing their job!
And these programs are actually the main reason i made this post..if you are not planning to try these programs don’t comment about how lousy my tutorial is.
8.Do a disk cleanup(may take more time first time)
Start>Run and type cleanmgr.exe
9.Scan for viruses,spyware and malware
I recommend avast free if you ain’t got bitdefender
10.Defragment your partitions
Start>Run and type in dfrg.msc and do them one by one
11.The last step is modifying the way you use your PC.If you want your pc to be ready for you anytime you want to use it you should enable hibernation. To hibernate you need at least 2GB free on your Windows install disk.To enable hibernation go to start>Control Panel>Power Options>Hibernation and enable it
Next time you want to shut down you computer try hibernating instead by pressing and holding shift when the Hibernate button
[Step by Step- Start>Turn off>[hold Shift]Hibernate or simply press “h” without holding shift]
After all this is done, restart and feel the pc

Good tips! I have the same problem from time to time.
You wouldn’t have to do a virus scan if you had Firefox.
Well yeah you are somehow right but there are more ways to get viruses
i’ve been doing a lot of these things since we’ve had our pc..and i kinda forget them coz my pc’s working good right now. thanks for sharing this cool post:)
Mistake..probably..i don’t think you really need 2gb free on your disk it might depend on installed ram
i mean for hibernation
