It was only a matter of time …
Of course Apple pundits would come out of the woodwork to hate Microsoft Surface. It had to happen. But the Surface looks like a rather interesting product. You have a built in keyboard that also doubles as a cover, in five cool colors. You will have more RAM than the iPad and the iPad 2. No, you won’t have Retina Display, but most consumers will not care about Retina Display, they just want a device that can play their high definition videos.
You also have a choice of operating systems. Windows RT for the low end, good enough for consumers that want to play videos and take pictures, and Windows 8 for those looking for productivity. Both versions of Windows come with Microsoft Office installed.
The Surface can bridge the gap between all out tablet computing, where everything is touch screen, and the learning curve of learning an operating system that is driven by touch, instead of driven by a graphical interface, and traditional computing, where you have a traditional keyboard. No reason to hate on that. There should be more than enough room for different approaches to tablet computing. Then again, these same haters threw salt on the Android Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet, so go figure …
