In this article, I will take you through several hotkeys that will make your life easier when using this program.
- Use of “Copy & Paste.” Instead of right clicking on the image, selecting “copy” and then right clicking again to “paste,” you can use the hot keys CTRL C (Copy) and CTRL V (paste.)
- Select all. If you wish to select your whole work with a press of a button, rather than holding and dragging the mouse, use the hotkey CTRL A to select All.
- To Print your work, simply press CTRL P instead of going to File, and looking for “Print” Not to be confused with “Print Preview” (which is the view of how the page will look before printing!)
- Using Bold, Italics, and Underline. Notice the first letters of these words, they will help you remember the hotkeys. CTRL B for BOLD. CTRL I for ITALICS and CTRL U for UNDERLINE.
- Use CTRL Z for undoing your previous action. This will remove the sentence you previously wrote. In other words, removes the most recent writings/actions you have done on Microsoft Word. CTRL Y is the partner of CTRL Z. Undoes what you already did. Confused? Try it out! Write a sentence, press CTRL Z, then press CTRL Y.
- If your writing happens to come out all in capital letters, it most likely means you have “Caps Lock” on. A button to the left hand side of your keyboard.
- Probably the most useful of buttons you’ll ever come across are CTRL S. This is to save your work.

I like it very much.
Excellent! How do you copy and paste just a section of a paragraph from a laptop instead of the whole thing?
Good info.
