If your computer is slow and not running the way it used to be, that means something is wrong. This article focuses on simple tips that can help to seed up your computer.

It is very common that computer slows down with time. If you work on your computer extensively and use internet, your computer slows down even more. But there are some ways to speed up your computer. Here, I’m trying point out some very basic and easy tips to make your computer fast.
1. First, the most common and easy thing to do! Remove your temporary internet files. Not only that, delete all the files from Recycle bin. Also, delete those files/programs you don’t need anymore. This will increase the disk space.
2. Defragment the computer hard disk. You can use Smart Defrag for this. It’s a freeware.
3. If you are accessing Internet then there is a big chance that your computer is affected by the virus. Use anti-virus & anti-spy ware software. You can use Ad-aware, Spybot S&D or AVG.
4. If you are a fan of glossy window and fancy visualization then this is not for you. But if you turn off the visual effects then your computer will run much faster. Use small size file as wallpaper.
5. Clean the computer’s registry by removing broken shortcuts, missing shared DLLs, invalid paths. For this you can use any free registry cleaner. Comodo Registry Cleaner and CCleaner are two very good tools.
6. Do you know that by disabling Recent Document, you can speed up your computer? Because every time you start the computer it gathers the list of Recent Documents. This process slows down the speed.
7. Do not put a lot files on a single folder. This slows down the computer speed. Create multiple folders and save files accordingly.
8. By disabling the error reporting message you can boost the computer speed.
9. Keep updating your windows and security software time to time.
10. Back up your data and reformat the computer. This is the easiest way to make your computer fast fresh!
Besides these, get rid of all unused software and files. Do not download too many software. Avoid downloading fancy fonts. Install more RAM, if your computer is running out of memory.

Funnily enough I have had to do most of these things in the last week because my computer had slowed down so much. I didn’t know about splitting overfilled folders up. I must do that. A very helpful article.

Good info. Though personally I prefer the Avira + SUPERAntiSpyware combination, not AVG, because AVG can slow down your computer.
