Photoshop Cs3 Tutorial: Basic Blending

This is a tutorial on the best way to blend your sig!

Step 1: Open Photoshop and create a new Document size of 400 x 200 pixels. Then place the stock and render you are going to use, for this tut i used this:

Step 2: After positioning everything the way you want duplicate the render and set it to a blending mode of multiply and opacity of 30% , This is what it should look like:

Not too much of a difference but it counts!

Step 3: Now you need to Create a new layer  and go to Image > Apply image. After doing so , grab the Blur tool and set it to a soft brush of about 50 pixels. Start blurring around the focal but not the focal. Result:

Step 4: Now that you have blurred , we need to sharpen. So , create a new layer and again go to Image > Apply Image. Now got to Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen. Since it gets too much sharpen you will need to go to Edit > Fade Sharpen and set it to 60%. Result:

Just so that you can see the difference from now and when we started below are both comparisons:

Step 4: We already have it blended pretty well but still needs work. So , Now we will need to add some lighting. It already has a light source (Bright thing on top right corner) all we need to do is make his right side lighter and his left side darker. To make his right side brighter create a new layer and again go to Image > Apply Image. After doing so grab the Dodge tool and set it to a soft brush of about 80 Pixels. Brush on the areas that the focal already has lighting on , in ex. the top right side of his hood , his right shoulder , and his sword. As so:

Then grab the Burn tool and use a soft brush set to about 80 Pixels also. Then brush the areas away from the focal , in ex. The rocky areas on the left , the bottom left side of his hood , the outer left side of his robe , and a little on the sky. Result:

Just to see the difference between before the lighting and after:

Small details to make it blend better ^

The before and after Results:

@ Step 1:

@ After Step 5:

There is more ways to blend but this is just the basic ways of blending but they are the key ways to good blending.
