Photo Fx – Effects for iPhone / iPod Touch

I’ve been having Version 2, if though there’s version 3.5 by now, for a while now and so far, the app is amazing. Adding all kinds of effects to images i downloaded from Google Images through my iPod Touch was fun and now’s time to give my guide and review on it. Well, first off, this is a photography categoric app, so if there are any photographers out there need to do any color correction or anyone who justs wants to mess around with the color settings of the image, here’s the app i would recommend. It’s currently $3.99 but to me, it think it’s worth it for an app like this. Here are some example images i’ve mastered using this app and i’ll show you me editing a default Modern Warfare 2 image -

Alright, since you saw some really interesting photos edited with Photo FX, let’s take a look at the features. So here’s the image i’ll be messing with today to give a really outstanding result at the end -

It ’s an iPhone wallpaper of the character, Ghost from the game Modern Warfare 2. Nice image, but let’s tweak it up a bit. So let’s the app

Then you would get a screen like this -

From here, tap the left icon to search and image. Make sure you have an image that’s in iPod Touch or iPhone resolution for this to fit well but that’s optional since the Lamborghini example on top is not in it’s iPhone resolution. Anyways find the image you want and open it. Now you should get a screen like this which shows options you can use to edit the image -

From here, you can take a look at the effects you can add into your image. There are many effects you can add to your image. There are about 8 (i think) pages of effects. So let’s start from here itself by adding some night time effects to our image. So tap the Day for Night Effect and then you can choose the different presets of the effect -

Choose any of the presets you want as it doesn’t really matter what you choose since you will edit them next with the custom toolbars and options you can set later on. Now you’ll get a preview of your image, including some slide-bars to custom set your image -

Once you are done setting the variables of the image, tap the floppy disk icon at the bottom right and then you’ll get a screen like this -

If you want to continue adding more effects to the image, tap ‘Add Layer’ or if your done, tap ‘Save’ to save the image. The image will be saved as a duplicate and wont overwrite the current one. Since i want to add some more effects to our image, i’m going to tap ‘Add Layer’. Let’s add some more effects -

I’m going to add some glowing effect to the image. Notice at the bottom left there is a glowing splint appearing in the image. Although it doesn’t do much, it reminds as if an explosion or vehicle is approaching. Right, now’s for the main attraction which is a part of Version 3.5. -

This is pretty much the main effect for this image. The image now reminds me of Tom Clancy or as if this is some sort of spy mission. Whatever it is, the image looks more attractive now and could be used as my wallpaper. Hmm… why didn’t i think of that? By the way, did you know that you can paint an image using this app?

Anyways, let’s add the finishing touches of the image by adding some glowing edges to particular edges of the image like the shirt, tree branches etc -

You may not notice much through this image but if you would have to reduce the blur through the settings, then you would definitely notice a difference. But since i don’t want to make it too much into this image, i’m just going to be adding a little blur into this image. So we have pretty much done most of what we need to do to this image and i think you know by now how to save the image. No? Look up and check it. Anyways, save it and check you Photo Gallery. Your final result should end up in something like this -

Looks fantastic huh? If you want, go ahead and save this into your iPhone or iPod Touch. This would look great for your wallpaper. If you don’t like it, then i just don’t know what you like anyway… Anyways if you are ever interested in this app, go ahead and check it out at the App Store and get it for $3.99. To me, this app is fun,simple and easy to use without any much of knowledge required.
