How to Have an Effective PowerPoint Presentation for the Academic Over-Acheiver

Refrain from making too many slides it only looks like you copied everything out of a book.

In my experience the Powerpoint presentation is a critical new trend to receiving that “A” in whatever class you choose to take. Make the Presention with simple easy to read graphics. Be concise and to the point with each bullet of information. Refrain from making one slide more outlandish than the last Professor’s like technical savvy not a cartoon. Professor’s also do not like watching movies. Please, please refrain from making too many slides it only looks like you copied everything out of a book. The shorter it is the more you appear to have grasped the concept. Question and answer periods can be difficult but if you do not know something very smartly say I will find that out for you and continue on.

There is no need to give fuel to someone who just might be getting smug with you.You are the authority and there should not be too many questions. Speak clearly and loudly as if you were talking to the person seated in the back row and without a microphone. Dress professionally. It is the added edge you will have to push your grade up from that “B” to an “A”.

For all intent and purposes you already have that corporate job and are presenting things to your employers and his associates that may become reality later. Policies and procedures that will better the companies profit. I know it’s hard to visualize this in a classroom but just think you have to prove yourself there first. If you can get past the Professor you can get past the toughest boss. Practice, practice, practice your presentation in front of someone else first. Grant it the Professor knows your nervous already but just try to remain calm and informative. Getting through the information is half the battle. Do not take criticism too harshly it will only better future presentations.
