1. Windows Movie Maker
Offered by Microsoft, you will find this software in Windows ME / XP / Vista / 7.
2. Audio / music / video
You can use digital camera to record your own singing. Do not bother about the image because you are going to add new images in video making.
3. Photo or drawing
At least one photo or drawing is needed. You can select a few memorable photos or draw a story that is full of different blessings.
Steps to make the birthday video:
1. Open the Windows Movie Maker.
2. Import files.
To make the enclosed video, you need one photo and one file for its audio content.
3. Combine image and audio.
Go to the bottom and you will see “Storyboard”. Since we will combine two different types of files, we do not use “Storyboard”. Click the pull down menu next and select “Timeline”.
4. Drag the files from the imported media accordingly.
The image file will be on the first line. The audio file will be on the second line.

5. Adjust the timing.
The image file is shorter in length than the audio file. Highlight the image file and place the cursor to the right border, you will see a double-sided arrow in red. Pull the arrow right until its timing is the same as the audio’s one.

As the red arrow is double-sided, you can shorten the timing of an image as well. This will be useful when you want the video showing not just one photo, but many photos one by one.
6. Preview the newly made video.
Click the play button at the right side.
7. Publish movie.
After preview, if everything is fine, then publish movie. You will see this option at the top bar menu. There are four destinations for selection. Recommend publishing to your own computer first. The new video is in WMV format.
8. Double checked before offering it as a gift.
Double click the video and it will be played at Windows Media Player. Send the video by email, post on blog, or save it at USB finger / disc and give it out.
Now you have the basic knowledge, feel free to explore other functions to attain different effects for your video. Tailor made a birthday video by Movie Maker to someone you love as a gift is all that easy. Enjoy the fun and the uniqueness.
