How to Make a Minecraft Server by: Faftercrafter – Thetriondguy

Hi guys, today i will tell you how to make a minecraft server, firstly you get a choice between Bukkit and the Classic servers. But today we are doing the classic one i’ll do the bukkit one next week or later.

Bukkit means you can have plugins which you can use to improve your servers performance, such as the plugins for not griefing, and not spam and swear, and you can set permissions for people who can use some commands in the server or what you can’t so it’s really neat.

The Classic Server means, you will have to OP people to let them build, switch gamemodes [Survival/Creative], and teleport, and you will have to Op everyone that have to come to your server, a higher risk for your server to be griefed… ————————————————————————————————————————————————

Now that you have choosen, the first part is on how to get a server for classic, so pay close attention

okay now first if you want a cracked server, or you don’t want to pay for the minecraft game, you can use mineshafter or other sites, but i recommand mineshafter because it’s much more fun… you will need an account first… so created a account at http://minecraft.net sign up then you got your account… okay now that you have that go to downloads and there should be 2 downloads, one that has a server for Windows and the other for Mac, choose one of them, I’m using a Mac so im going for Mac server.

okay now that you have downloaded it, you can choose to use hamachi or you can port-forward, since i don’t know how to port forward it you can use Hamachi LogMeIn, just download it free on google by typing, ‘Hamachi LogMeIn free download’ and click the site that has SoftTonic in it, if you got a mac, or a Linux or what ever, put your machine name in like this ‘Hamachi LogMeIn free download [Linux,Mac,Windows, ect]‘ now that you have hamachi, you have to get that server file from the Minecraft site, now create a New folder on your desktop, and put the minecraft file in it, now start it up you should get a few files in that New Folder you created and the file should have also opened up a program after all the files have been created, you can close it by typing ’stop’ and then pressing the ‘X’ on the top left or right of the program. If you wanna continue faster into the instructions keep it open.

you can rename the New Folder into Minecraft Server or what ever you want. Now you have all the files in that files, you should see a file that says Server.Properties and now you should see everything in there, you can set things to false of what you want or true. now that you see the Server.IP:, okay if you see this it might be a little hard to understand, alright let’s get this IP, remember the Hamachi thing i told you before? install it and open it up. Now when you open it up you should see a series of numbers such as this 5.222.71.81 or 7.533.54.53, soemthing like that you should get random numbers…. alright you use that number and put it in the Server.IP thing in Server.Properties. now that you have done that let’s go back onto the Hamachi thing.

Okay now that your at Hamachi you should see a thing that says Network click that and you should see a Join/Create tab that will let Join another server or create your own Now create your own Network, with a Name and a password. i would recommand using this. but you don’t have to, once you done that, now when you press that Minecraft_server.jar file a program should have opened when you start it should have a spawn point generated… and a random generated for you. Now that you done that, you can now go on minecraft or mineshafter, and type in the IP that ur Hamachi LogMeIn thing gave you in the IP address bar and you should have all 4 bars going up green, since your the owner you won’t have much lagg. okay now you can have fun.
