Writers of articles, blogs and other internet content are always looking for ways to encourage more readers to visit their sites. For those who have their own blogs and websites, back links are also important. So, getting your links out there where people can see them is crucial. There is a simple way to do both these things at once.
Spamming websites and blogs with you article address, or the URL for your blog is likely to win you more enemies than friends. From personal experience and talking to other bloggers, I know that the practise of dropping your link into a comments box is more likely to get you bad publicity than good.
Randomly spewing out lists of links and sending them to the inboxes of other writers is also an infuriating practise and will get you deleted immediately. I won’t follow links sent this way, even if they do look interesting. It’s rude, intrusive and a nuisance (in my opinion.)
So, how do you go about putting your link out there when it comes to other people’s comments boxes?
Well, I found a free piece of software that will find blogs by keyword. Fast Blog Finder is easy to use. When you put in your search criteria you get a list of blogs that are connected with your topic of interest. For example, if I had written an article on tigers, I would search for blogs featuring tigers. A screen opens at the bottom of the page and you can see your search words highlighted in various colours.
You then comment in the usual way, trying to add something to the discussion, but don’t put your link in the comments box. You will see that there is a section above the box to add your name, email (get a special one for this if you prefer) and link. Add your article link to this box. Anyone who clicks on your name will see that there is a link to your article there. The key here is to make your comment interesting enough for the reader to want to click your name to see who you are.
Yes, it all takes time but each time you do this you are putting a link on a blog, or website that stays there and keeps sending you readers. It also builds back links for blogs.
It does work.
I have started to do more of this and watched as my daily reads on the articles I have concentrated on have started to rise. The best method is to select one article of yours and promote that as much as you can before moving onto another. Above all make sure that the article you are linking is relevant to the site you are commenting on.
This will give you a steady stream of readers and you will slowly, but surely, see the rewards.

I delete those comments and consider them spam. I am interested in what others have to say, but as you said, no matter how interesting it sounds, if the link was placed on my content, I will remove it, unless of course, I was asked first.

I remember downloading and trying it but for whatever reason gave it up. I think there is a trial period. But whatever it is, hard work seems to be the key, always.

Contrary to what some are saying here. This is not trial software. There is a FREE edition. It says in big letters on the top of mine: FREE EDITION. I just checked. You do get a screen that asks you if you want to upgrade but you don’t have to. FREE EDITION gives 50 blogs at a time, that’s the only restriction but that’s enough for anyone to wade through in a session!

Yeah you can get the free edition of it that lets you see up to 50 blogs, it still requires registration though (ie: giving them your e-mail address)
