• Flash is an authoring tool.

• Individual pieces of content made with flash are called animations.
• Complex piece of flash content are called flash applications.

Flash advantages

• Small file size.
• Uses vector graphics.
• Vectors are mathematical equations that describe complex shapes made up of points, lines, curves, and fills.
• Vector graphics require significantly less memory and less storage space.
• Well suited for delivery over the internet because they are small files.

Flash document

• Flash project files have the .fla extension.
• 4 main parts of the flash workspace: the stage. The timeline, the library, the actionscript.
• When you finish the flash project file publish (file > publish command).
• Creates a finalized version of your file ready fro distribution with the extension .swf (SWF).
• You can then use flash player to play the swf file in a web browser or as a stand alone application.
