Some of the best freeware programs so far this year.
First on the list is utorrent. Utorrent is a great torrent program that provides quick and easy downloads, is light on system resources, and installs in a flash. For anyone who uses torrents at all, this program is an absolute must!
Second, is CCleaner. This application scans through your computer and deletes all useless files and empty folders. You can also scan through the registry and remove broken, old, or useless extentions and speed up your computer. All in all, this program is a keeper.
Third, we have Defraggler. This is a sister program of CCleaner. It scans your computer and defragments all of the fragmented files. Essentially, it pieces back together all the scattered parts of a program windows leaves behind when it opens them. I’ve found this to greatly speed up my computer and even free up a small amount of hard drive space. An absolute necessity for ANYONE running windows!
Last but certainly not least is avast. Avast antivirus has one of the highest virus detection rates of ANY free AV, a wide range of real time scanners, and a feature that allows you to remove pesky viruses before start up. It has 7 “providers”, including an email scanner, P2P shield and web scanner. For anyone who browses the internet and downloads anything, this program is a must.
