Easy Tricks That Can Boost Your Concentration

Putting your mind entirely into what you are doing is very important and if you are not into this habit already, then it is high time you developed it.

You want to go out and play but your mom has asked you to mug a chapter first. You glance through it haphazardly and rush out telling her that you’ve read it. This is just one example of a task done without concentration. Bet there are hundreds of things that children as well as grown-ups do without making an effort to concentrate on the work at hand. Concentration simply means time well invested. If you are doing something without concentration, then it is better to not take up the activity at all, because a half hearted effort will not give you any result. Here are some things you can do to boost your concentration level.

Blank out your mind

Make sure that your mind is not cluttered with loads of sundry thoughts before you set out to do any work. Take a deep breath and look inside your mind for a few minutes. Stop thinking about things that are not related to the task you are about to begin.

Give instructions vocally

Tell yourself what you should and should not be thinking about while doing a particular task. If thoughts unrelated to your work pop up in your mind, then root them out consciously. Your thinking and concentration power will get better as you practice self talk more often.

Time yourself

Sometimes you lose track of what is going on in your mind. Try to keep a tab on your trail of thoughts by timing yourself and monitoring your performance for regular time intervals. You can set an alarm or keep an eye on the clock to verify if your concentration level was adept enough or not during that period.

Check how much you grasped

Whenever you finish doing a piece of work, check how much time you took to get it done, and if your concentration level is improving or not. This will help you keep a check on your improvement. Many people work hard on their concentration and will zoom ahead if you do nothing to sharpen your mind.

Practice exercises

If keeping a tab on your thoughts is not helping much, then you should take up simple exercises or even classroom programs to sharpen your concentration. There are many meditation techniques, games and puzzles that can hone your concentration.
