Digicam Loader Instructions

First thing: The windows will look different on your PC, this is normal because I have a Windows Theme that isn’t included to Windows XP.

First you need to extract the zip archive. I suggest you extract it just to where it is in a folder, you can move the program to where ever you want after the installation.

Start setup.exe and let it install Microsoft Net Framework, this is necessary to run the program.

After the install will come a verifying window, don’t be scared because I says something about unknown publisher, I didn’t figure out how I change this because I just switched to Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition. Install it and the program will start BUT close it for now cause the one that runs is a temporary one.

Now move the program to where ever you want to have it and place a shortcut on your desktop.

First Run:

Now the program should look like this

The Textfield that goes at the top from the left to the right is the Targetpath where your pictures will be moved to.

The left Listfield is the list with the registered detection masks for Digicams. This works with every Digicam that creates a nearly unique folder on the storage medium. More to that later.

The right Listfield is the list with the detected Digicams. If one drive on your PC matches with a registered folder mask it will be listed with its driveletter and the description of the drive. So you should describe your Digicam when it is connected to your PC so you can easily find it.

Setting Things Up:

The next thing is to configure the program so it can be useful for you.

To register a folder mask to the left list right click into the list and select “Add” from the context menu.

For my Digicam I would need to enter DCIM101SSCAM because it creates the folder DCIM on the stick and in that the folder 101SSCAM and in this folder will be the pictures.

For now you can DCIM because this is a very common folder created by Digicams. Just take a look at your Digicam when it is connected as drive what folders are used before the images show up. I your camera creates more than one folder with pictures in it then just enter the path until the parent folder. For example my old Casio Digicam created a folder every day so it was DCIM100_0001 next day DCIM101_0002 and so on. So I would need just to enter DCIM. Don’t worry if you have DCIM and a longer version in your list. I starts at the bottom of the list so DCIM**** is used before DCIM.

Well now if you have registered the right path you only need to connect your Digicam and press scan, then it should show up on the right list.

Now doubleclick on the detected Digicam in the right list and it will start downloading your pictures. After both bars are full and the Scan Button clickable again it is done.
