Often make flowcharts or flowmap? Of course, those who engaged in the world of software, even business analysts often make a flowchart / flow map. In general, the commonly used software is Microsoft Visio.
But now there is an alternative, an Open Source program from GNOME called DIA. A GTK program (Graphical User Interface Toolkit) to create charts that can be used in Linux, MacOS X, Unix, and Windows (versions 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP or Vista) OS, is released under GPL (General Public License). Besides looks friendly user, easy to install, small file size (18 mb), and this program is freeware or free.
DIA inspired by the commercial applications made by Microsoft that is Visio. And like Visio, you can create a variety of diagrams ranging from common to complex, such as diagrams ERD (Entity Relationship Diagrams), UML (Unified Modeling Language), flowcharts, network, and so forth.
Here it’s a DIA screenshot (See the picture below).
DIA can open and save diagrams in XML format extension. DIA also can save it in another format, such as: EPS, SVG, Xfig, WMF, PDF, PNG, ICO, JPEG, Etc. Here the last version of DIA (v 0.97.1). For download, click here and for a portable version of the software is also available here.
Good luck …. hopefully useful …
