Windows Xp: How to Disable Error Reporting

Are you tired of Windows error reporting message when every time any application crashes down?

Windows Error Reporting (WER) is a set of technologies that gather any software crash data and send it to Microsoft for analyzing the error and responding to the problem.

If you are using Windows XP, every time any application crashes you get an error reporting message. Sometimes it can be very irritating. And if your system is poorly maintained and applications keep crashing down – this error reporting dialogue box can really get on your nerves.

Not only error reporting messages are annoying but these also hamper the computer’s performance and slow down it. But the good thing is sending the report is optional and user can disable error reporting messages in Windows XP.

So, if you are looking for the tips to make your computer fast or tired of Windows Error Reporting then here’s the process how you can do it!

  • Right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.
  • From the System Properties Dialogue box, click on the Advanced tab.

  • Click on the Error Reporting button right down the bottom.

  • Now an Error Reporting box is open. Click on the Disable error reporting radio button and make sure that you’ve checked ‘But notify me when critical errors occur’. This is important because if any serious problem happens, you will get the notification.

That’s it! Now, Windows Error Reporting messages won’t bother you unless anything serious happens.

Note: WER has its own importance and can be very useful for Microsoft to get rid of faults.
