Windows Hot Tips

Quick tips for users.

Microsoft Windows is a smart program, smarter than most of us realize. There are a ton of “hot hey” shortcuts, various keys that quickly and simply perform tasks for us. Next time you go to type in that web address try using this one: Type Triond in the address bar and then simply press the Shift key and the Enter Key together. This auto routes the address, no need to type www or .com just the web site name. Control+C is a well know options for quick copying to the clipboard, and Control plus the arrow keys make highlighting text easier than using the mouse. Control+A is the “Select all” option, no need to highlight and right click, and scroll to it.

I bet there are a lot of users who, like me, wondered what that “windows logo” key was put there for? Window Key+E will open the “My Computer” folder, a folder used quite often for many users. while Windows Key+F will open the “search for files or folders” option. I wasn’t aware that you can scroll text boxes using the Tab key and those pesky “check here” boxes can be selected or X’ed with the space-bar! Pressing Num lock and the Plus key together will open a selected folder.

Hate filling up the Recycling bin? next time you go to delete something press “Shift” and “Delete” to bypass the Recycling bin and delete permanently. Make sure you really want to delete it though! Control+T will give you a new Tab, much quicker than minimizing all the open windows and selecting Your browser again though that’s what most of us still do anyway. Check out some of the hot keys, you search for more hot key combo’s on your choice of search engines.
