Simple instructions to stop Windows XP from using 20% of your bandwidth.
Is your broadband connection not fast enough? Did you know that Windows XP reserves one fifth of your PC’s bandwidth for its own purposes, whether it needs it or not? Fortunately you can quite easily prevent it from doing so.
Go to Start,Run and enter gpedit.msc into the box. Navigate to Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Network/QOS Packet Scheduler/Limit Reservable Bandwidth. Enable Reservable Bandwidth and alter it’s value to zero. Now XP will only use the bandwidth it requires for packet scheduling, rather than hogging it for itself. Now you can zip around Facebook or play your favourite online games up to 20 percent faster than before.
