Speed up our computer by turning off the visual effects.

Here’s another trick to speed up the computer. If you disable the visual effects on XP then your computer will run faster. But if you enjoy the fancy buttons and the glossy window of XP then this is not for you. By disabling visual effects in Windows XP, your computer screen will look like Windows 2000 again! If you hate that look then avoid doing it.
Remember, more visual effects you that you turn on, the speed of computer gets slow.
So, here is trick how you can disable the visual effects in Windows XP.
- Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
- System Properties Dialogue Box is open. Now, click on the Advanced tab.
- Click on the Settings button under Performance heading.
- This will open up Performance Option dialog box. The default setting for Windows XP is – ‘Let Windows choose what’s best for my computer‘. If you haven’t change any settings before then this should be checked on the list.
Now, you can change the setting either by selecting ‘Adjust for best performance‘ button or you can manually uncheck items one by one. If you select ‘Adjust for best performance‘ or manually uncheck every item then your computer will certainly work faster. But if you still want to have that XP look then do not uncheck the last option, Use visual styles on windows and buttons. If you check this option on, you’ll get the XP look, but get rid of the graphics card intensive add-ons. That’s it, click ok and your computer is now ready with new settings!
Windows XP has a lot of fancy features like slide into view, shadows that create three-dimensional effects, and rounded corners etc. These features sometimes slow down the performance of the system. By disabling some or all visual effects, you can certainly improve your computer’s performance.
