Windows Eight Release Preview

Review of new Microsoft’s OS – Windows eight.

Windows 8 Release Preview is a preliminary version of Microsoft’s new OS. The idea was to integrate desktop PCs, tablet PCs and mobile phones based on Windows OS.

Installation is quite easy and you will be informed which software is not compatible with Windows 8, so if there is a software that you must use and you are not able to use it on Windows 8, you’d better not install it.

At first glance, design of Windows 8 resembles the design of Windows Phone. It has tiles, market place and lock screen. It has several color themes and you can choose the one that suits you best.  Market Place Store is still obscure and you can only download free applications like Amazon Kindle, Wikipedia, etc. Paid applications will be available later.

Windows 8 is suitable for new users because it is easy to work with. You just need to click on the tile you want to open and you don’t need to close it, if you don’t use it, Windows will close it itself. Downloading new application does not slow down your system and you can work on something else while the application is being downloaded.

Windows 8 RP does look beautiful, but I think it is more suitable for tablets and mobile phones because you can work a lot faster by touching than by clicking. There are some flaws, though. Firstly, some applications won’t open when you click them, they initiate the process and they close themselves. Secondly, Internet Explorer works slow and it tends to make the whole screen blurry.

I hope that Microsoft will fix these problems before they start selling the product.
