Run Previous Operating Systems on Your Desktop

Do you want to test an old Operating system without replace your current hard disk partition? Well, then here’s the right tutorial for you!

Ok, so you heard about all those old Operating systems such as Windows 95,98,2000, and some new ones like Ubuntu and others. But what if you would like to try them without having to replace your current OS Partition and run it right on your dekstop in windows mode. Well, here’s a simple solution and tutorial. It’s called ‘Microsoft Virtual PC’. It’s a program from Microsoft that allows you to test old operating systems right on your desktop. What are the requirements? Here are the requirements..-

Windows 7,Vista or XP SP3

1GB or 2GB recommended

4GB or more for Virtual Hard Drive depending on OS requirements.

Install it and here are the simple steps to use it. First, open it from your desktop

You will get Setup Wizard. Click Next and you will get this window-

Just click Next and click on ‘Create New Virtual Machine’. You’ll get this-

Choose where you want to save the settings and type the name of your OS going to be installed. Click Next and you will get this-

Now choose the operating system you’ll install for the best settings for it. If not of the OS you want is there, click other. Click Next and you’ll get this windows-

Adjust the ammount of RAM you are going to share to the guest OS and click Next and finally create a Virtual Hard Disk to install your guest OS on. 4GB is recommended for the old OS. Then your done. Here’s how the OS would look like-

I’m running Windows 95 now. You can use an ISO image or a CD. You can also use a floppy image (.IMA).
