I’m back with a review of the new, iPhone OS 3.0.
The iPhone OS 3.0 was a remarkable step-up from 2.2.1. The overall quality of the device is greatly improved. First, the landscape view in the mail app blew me away from how easy it is now to write messages. Then, the actual speed of the device surpisingly increased. Apps loaded quicker, it hasn’t froze once, and everything seems more smooth than a 20 year old celebrity’s face. Next, the undo feature is one that i think i left out. If you are in an app typing something, you can shake the device to the side to bring out a little menu that says, Undo and Redo, just like on the computer! The cut, copy, and paste feature has become one of the most handy and easy things i have ever used. The shake to shuffle feature, which i dearly missed after i stop using my Chromatic, made me happier than a dolphin at Popey’s! The spolight option has become handy once or twice, but it is not the best feature Apple has included with the new OS. The best feature has got to be that you can now download TV episodes and movies straight from the iTunes app. The new, P2P(Peer to peer) local bluetooth connectivity has been really fun to use with some games. The only part people will hate, is the cost. I did say the update was free, but just not for iPod’s. Its free for the iPhone, just not the iPod Touch. Apple want’s a heafty $10 charge to update your iPod. I myself, am too cheap to pay that fee, so i scowered the web and found a free 3.0 download that i used to restore my iPod with. If you want to do this, find the felixburns website, download the update,(its about 220 mb.) and go into iTunes, plug in your iPod, hold Shift and hit restore under the menu about your iPod. Find that file you downloaded, and double click it in the window that pops up. Wait for iTunes to finish restoring your iPod, and voilla. You have just updated yourself to 3.0!!! Trust me, you won’t be disipointed. I actually un-jailbroke my iPod just to get this update.
