Dual Boot Vista and Mac OSX: Make Install Disc and Install

This guide details how to install Mac OSX onto your vista PC, without messing up your vista installation.

Make the Install DVD

You will need:

  1. An External Hard Drive
  2. A DVD R Drive
  3. “Utorrent” http://utorrent.com/
  4. “Active ISO Burner”  http://www.ntfs.com/iso-burning.htm

Instructions

  1. BACK UP YOUR ENTIRE HARD DRIVE!!  This is very important!
  2. Download and install Utorrent, or another torrent application.
  3. Search Google for Kalyway torrent.
  4. Click a result, then check the comments to see if it is a virus.
  5. Click download.
  6. Open the .torrent file with your torrent application (Utorrent).
  7. It will take a while to download, so be patient.
  8. If you have not done so yet, download and install “Active ISO Burner”.
  9. Put a blank DVD in your optical drive.
  10. Open “Active ISO Burner”.
  11. Click the button that says “…” on it.
  12. Navigate to the Kalyway ISO file, and click OK.
  13. I recommend selecting 1x as the burn speed.
  14. Click “BURN ISO!”
  15. Wait for it to finish burning (about 15 min).

Install

You will need:

  1. a computer with a partitioned hard drive

Instructions:

  1. Put your Kalyway disc into your optical drive, and reboot your computer.
  2. A message will say something about Darwin x86.
  3. Wait for it to load (5-10 min).
  4. Select your language and click the blue arrow.
  5. Click next.
  6. Click the mac partition.
  7. Click next.
  8. Click customize.
  9. Read the description of each item, and then decide weather or not you need to install it.  I recommend experimenting with different options until you can get it to work.
  10. Click ok.
  11. Click install.
  12. Let it install (20-30 min).
  13. Click restart.
  14. Mac OSX leopard should start up and guide you through the process of setting up your installation.
