Help for first-time builders get their first computer up and running.
OK. So, you have decided that you want to build your own computer. You may be astonished by all the information related to computers, but don’t worry. most of that is not needed. I have built many computers before, and am typing this on my most recent gaming computer. This has a Quad-Core Q6600 Processor, and can tackle most if not all of my gaming needs. I also have 2 Ge-Force 8800 GTX Graphic Cards, and 4 gigs of RAM. All this is plugged into my ASUS P5Q MO-BO. Now, if that made no sense to you at all, you might want to go find out what RAM is, what an HDD is, what a Motherboard is, and other necessary terms. Lets start with the most important factor, the Case. The Case (Or tower) Houses all of the components that the Computer uses. There are alot of cases, some of which are just your ordinary aluminum cases, and others have glowing LED fans, with a clear side. This is common with most gaming computers. They come in different sizes, being Micro, Medium, and full towers. I have a medium tower, it fit all of my stuff, and still have extra room. you wont need a full case unless you want alot of extras, such as liquid-cooled computers.
OK, so if you have chosen a case, you can now decide what kind of computer you want. Gaming computers need alot of Hard Drive space to store all of the games, a powerful processor, lots of RAM, and a decent graphics card. You will also need a bigger power supply if you want top-of-the-line products. You might want to decide what you want first. You should now move on to the motherboard. the first few things you should look at when browsing motherboards is COMPATIBILITY! Make sure your processor fits the socket in the motherboard. Intel uses LGA775, and I’m not quite sure what AMD uses. Also, decide on how much RAM you want. More RAM allows for better multitasking, while more processor power allows for faster processes. the most common type of ram is Duel Channel DD2. You can tell if it is duel channel by looking at the RAM slots on the motherboard. They might be two different colors. Also, make sure it is the right kind of ram, and we come again back to COMPATIBILITY!! The same goes with your Grahpics Card, Processor, etc. if your computer has IDE-E on it, that’sgood. this will connect the CD-ROM to your motherboard. it will help if it has SATA on it also, as this is slowly taking over IDE-E. Be sure the more accessories you get, the more power you get. Also, if you build a computer, you must also buy an operating system. This is like Windows, Mac, Linux, ECT. If you build one, it will not come with windows!! or any operating system! You probobly want to look for other guides for more specific info on this topic, this is just an intro guide. Best of Luck!
