Intel vs. AMD

An ancient battle between the two processor making companies.

Intel or AMD?

Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Let’s first look at some facts about Intel:

Firstly, Intel is a larger company and it is the number one supplier of microprocessors, as it is more well know than AMD. Intel also was the first commercial supplier of CPU’s in 1971. It was not until PC’s (personal computers) became a success that the business flourished. The name “Intel” originated from “Integrated Electronics.” This was better than the original name that the two founders (Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce) gave to the company, Moore Novce, on the account that the founding name sounded like “more noise.” (XD) Overall, Intel processors are better known than AMD and are more widely used; however this does not mean they’re better.

Now let’s chat about the other main CPU manufacturer, AMD:

AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) also develops CPU’s but are a smaller company in comparison to Intel. It is currently the second largest manufacturer of CPU’s, but I think AMD’s main advantage and eventual success over Intel is that it has bought ATI and is also planning to call it AMD. This advantage would rank AMD in the as wekk as the scale of CPU’s. Another more current advantage over Intel is that it is developing a 16-cored monster CPU, named the Bulldozer. The Bulldozer is intent of bulldozing Intel and becoming the number one CPU manufacturer in the world.

As of now, I think that right now AMD has the overall advantage, with its proposed to be 16-core 4.0Ghz Buldozer; with it, it will take the lead in manufacturing CPU’s. Unless Intel doesn’t pull up their socks and develop somthing good, to beat the Buldozer, it will be a 16-core 4.0Ghz Buldozer verses a Quad-Core 3.2Ghz Intel Core i7 Extreme.

intel gave amd the cpu technology that very much helped spawn the latter company. go check the company history.

being superior isn\’t a bad thing, intel isn\’t wrong to be superior, why bash them?

you think amd has advantage? amd can\’t even delivery a competitive quad-core, their promise ain\’t promising. maybe, just like obama has the advantage, because he\’s running entirely on hope.

I’m not bashing intel….

I know they are superior now, but if they want to stay that way they must come out with something good enough to keep them on top so that AMD’s Bulldozer doesn’t take the lead…
