Why is There a Bump on Five on my Cellphone-Keyboard?

Just another Q&A about little things.

This is not something new, the bump is called an index. The bump on the number 5 on your cellphone or telephone is to serve as an index so that you can punch in your numbers without looking at them. It’s also there on the keyboard number pad.

There’s another place where you’ll find the index:

The keys “F” and “J” on your keyboard are bumped or have lines on them because they serve as an index. (I bet most of you are going to look down at your keyboards right now ^_^ ). If you are one of those people who type without looking at the keyboard, this is actually made for you! As per the right way of typing, if you want to avoid hitting the letter “G” instead of “F” and avoid hitting “H” instead of “J”, this is why that bump/ line is there to save your efforts of hitting the Backspace/delete(for Macs) key more often!

Just thought this would be a serve as general knowledge and so I actually wrote about it.

This is a really good article Kaavs. I’ve always wondered what those bumps (or the indices) in this case could be! Good article!
