Got a CD drive that’s decided to throw a wobbly all of a sudden? Following these instructions should kick it back into shape.

There are three ways to fix your computer, the third one noone would want to do. Here are the options.:
Option 1: Reinstall your CD drive
Reinstalling your CD drive is simple.
Windows XP:
Go to Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware
Find the CD drive, right click it and click delete or uninstall
Restart Windows. It should automatically find the device and install the driver software.
Windows Vista:
Go to Start>Control Panel>Device Manager
Find the CD drive, right click it and click uninstall
Restart Windows. It should come up with Installing Device Driver Software in the system tray and after about one or two minutes, it should be installed.
Try a disc and if it works, you’ve fixed it!

Option 2: Editing the registry
There are some registry keys that do not need to be there. This is how you edit it.

Go to Start>Run>regedit
Go through the folders in the EXACT order:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Delete the upper and/or lower filters/fields.
Option 3: Renew your CD drive
Name says it all. I hope my instructions prevent you from having to do this.
There you have it! Good luck!
