Paying for Brands

This article is about paying for the brand of a computer when you’re buying a new one. There’s a lot of that when it comes to buying a computer or basically any other electronics, however this article focuses on computers.

When buying a new computer, you can easily find two computers where one of them is much more expensive than the other one, specifications seems alike, so you’re thinking; “Why is the other one so much more expensive?” I can’t help you answering that question, however I might give you an idea of what the reasons could be. This is not going to be any offense to some of the more expensive brands or anything, this is basically just some kind of a guide which can help you buy a great computer without having to worry about the brand.

Where I’m from, which is Denmark, there’s always a lot of brands which are much more expensive than some of the other brands, the brands which I’d like to call expensive are brands such as Asus, Alienware and Sony, there’s indeed more brands but these are the brands which landed in my mind when thinking of expensive brands. There’s also some cheap brands as I’d like to call them, these could be brands as Acer, Dell, Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard (HP), there’s nothing wrong with these brands after my opinion.

Most of you probably know what an Alienware computer is and if you know what it is, you probably know how expensive they are, their design is smokin’ hot and the specifications are insane aswell, but the price – not so good. Without having to look for a long time you can easily find another branded computer with as good specifications as the Alienware has, but maybe half the price the Alienware costs. The reasons for this can be the design and the brand, first of all, there’s some fame in owning an Alienware, most “gamers” know what an Alienware is, and they know it’s both expensive but also very good. Most people also do know what an Acer computer is, however Acer isn’t known to make heavy gamer pc’s and also Acer isn’t known to make very nice designs, believe it or not, that’s often the reason to the price differences.

Some cheaper brands are said to be bad quality and in some cases that can be true therefor I’d like to recommend Acer, I have an Acer stationary pc which I’ve had for 2 years and it still runs the newest games and I’ve never been that satisfied with a computer and I didn’t pay that much for it, I don’t remember the exact price, but around 1000$. More expensive and more famous brands are said to have a high quality of hardware built-in can be true in some cases, but my experience is still telling me that there’s no reason to buy an Alienware when you can easily find a computer which is just as good and which only costs half the price an Alienware does.

Apple’s Mac’s are also pretty expensive, but I don’t think it’s the same thing, as Mac is pretty much different than computers running Windows, you pay a high price for the operating system when buying a Mac.
I never had a Mac, but I think they would be worth it because of the so special operating system they have and because you can’t get any computer similiar to a Mac, yet.

Of course, this depends a lot on your opinion of brands and stuff, I just know that I’m more than satisfied with Acer, and I’m definately going to buy Acer in my future. As mentioned before, this is not any offence or insult to the more expensive brands, there are a lot of reasons to why they’re more expensive, and as mentioned the design can sometimes play a role and of course, the size of the computer. But there’s also many times where this isn’t the case, sometimes you really do pay for the brand.
