New Features to Look for When Buying a New Laptop 2009

With the release of windows7, many people are renewing and buying newer laptops. Most of them have great CPU performances, plenty of RAM and amazing graphics, here are some other features that you might want to include in your new laptop.

Full HD screens

These screens are great for watching movies, tv shows and playing games, right now most laptops in the market have 720p screens which are great, but if you want more sharpness, some vendors are making full HD 1080p screens.

Touch Screens

Early this month HP announced a new line of laptops that support touch screens. Touch screens have been great in cell phones, but mixed reviews have been received about them in laptops and their performance and features that they have.

Wi-Fi 802.11n

Last month this standard has been approved, if offers speeds up to 600 mbps compared to currently used 802.11b/g which offers 54mbps, which us more than 10 times faster!! So be sure that your built-in Wi-Fi Card supports this new standard.

Multi-touch pad

Recently a lot of laptops in current market have this feature, it gives more control and functions such as zooming, highlighting text, quick page scrolling

Blu-Ray Drive

This is going to raise the price tag of your laptop, but if you have a full HD screen and a great graphics card, then this going to be a lot of fun for you if you like watching movies and shows in great detail

3G Network Connectivity

This is an upcoming feature for laptops and notebooks that allows you to connect to a 3G network, it can provide you with a high speed internet access when you’re on the road or in a location with no local internet connection, of course you must have a data plan with a 3G operator.

GPS

Now most smart cell phones in the market have a GPS module, i dont why laptops havent got it yet. Now, finally a couple of companies have installed these GPS modules into their laptops

Solid-State drives

These drives will replace the old hard disk drives that are being used right now since the invention of the PC, they offer great speeds, faster response, silent operation and quick access to your files compared to the traditional hard disk. Currently these Solid-State Drives are available with up to 256 GB of storage, and they’re slightly more expensive than the traditional hard disk for the same storage capacity.

 

USB 3.0

This is a new USB standard which might be available next year, it offers speeds up to 10 times faster than the current USB 2.0 standard, but it means that you have to upgrade your devices or buy new ones that support USB 3.0 in order to get those high speeds

Wireless Battery Charge

Recently Dell introduced a new laptop that can be charged without the need of a power cable, you have place it close to a separate device that is plugged into the power line. but this feature much longer to charge your battery compared to the normal wired charging.
