Choose one according to your budget. Netbooks are usually available at far more cheaper rates as compared to laptops. You could buy a quality netbook within 500 dollars while good laptops could cost over $1000! Laptops start with around $500 and the rates could be as high as $1500 whereas netbooks are available within the range of $200 to $800. Cheap netbooks usually have all basic features while expensive netbooks would have more memory etc.
If you are used to seeing you large computer desktop, then it might be difficult for you to adjust with netbooks which have a screen size between 7 to 10 inches only. On the other hand, laptops begin with a screen of 14 inches.
Since netbooks do not occupy much space, it is easy to carry a netbook into your purse or a small bag. People who to travel frequently must consider this advantage as together with being smaller, they are very light in weight and can get you through airport security easily. Added to this, they have a longer battery life. If you compare it with an average laptop, they are three times more power effective.
Having a screen resolution of only 1024 X 600 or below, netbooks could be quite irritating as you would have to scroll every now and then to read the whole line. However, many latest netbooks have a higher resolution. Another disadvantage of netbook is their memory. It is not enough to run heavy programs, videos and games. More loads could slow down your gadget very much. Its RAM memory is only about 1G but they could be upgraded 2G if you are willing to spend more.
Keyboards of netbook are also not very pleasant. They are small and not suitable for those having big fingers. Half of the time you would find yourself correcting the errors. Buying a netbook would not prove to be a good idea if you need to type a great deal every day.
Netbooks usually don’t have optical disc drives so you cannot insert your CD or DVD. But they do have Wi-Fi and the new ones also have Bluetooth. You can easily connect your netbook to 3G mobile phone and can access internet easily.
Think about all these points before you enter an electronic shop to buy any of these. Your daily activities would decide that what suits you the most. If you travel every now and then and need something portable, then go for netbooks. If you have a lot of typing work to be done each day, then laptops are a good choice. Choose netbooks if you need it for sending and receiving emails or prepare a presentation etc but if you wish to play games, watch videos and open social networking websites, then laptop is your thing.
