Many people think of PC’s or “Personal Computers” as computers that are just for doing basic stuff like surfing the web or doing work. But the truth is that they can be used for so much more especially if you build your own PC. Some of the things you can do with a computer are CAD, Video Editing, and so much more. Some things you do with a computer may affect just you but most of the time affect many people. Most of today’s greatest inventions could not have been created without the help of computers. Movies, Video Games, and even most Books can’t be made without the help of computers.

Computers are also used for photoshoping pictures and playing games. Games like World of Warcraft, RuneScape and Doom are a couple of the more popular games people like to play on computers. Although most games can’t be played on a computer that was already built when bought unless you upgrade it when you buy it. Some of the things Gamers upgrade in a computer are the RAM(Random Access Memory) Video Card and the Sound card. They upgrade these things for two reasons. One is that most games wont run on basic hardware. The second is that upgrading the hardware makes the game seem more realistic and the quality is much better.

The Ram is an essential part of the computer because it is where your computer stores its temporary files so that it can find them quickly when needed. where as the video card and the sound card are only for the quality of the picture and sound. Although most people prefer the upgraded sound and picture quality.  upgrading the videocard also gives you the option of adding a second monitor which is highly underestimated by most people. Adding a second monitor can be great for gaming while it also gives the user a great productivity boost. 

Other things that allot of people upgrade in a computer are the CPU(Central Processing Unit) and the Hard Drive. Most people will only upgrade the CPU if the one they currently have is having allot of problems. This is because it is not the easiest thing to do. Replacing the processor requires you to open the computer and remove some of the major component wires so that you have room to maneuver around. This is not recommended if you are not familiar with the inner workings of a computer because if not done right you could actually make a mistake and delete everything in your computers memory. 

The Hard Drive is Easier to replace or even just add another one to your system. Hard Drives are probably the easiest thing to add or remove other than additional PCI cards. PCI cards are things like networking, sound, video, and extra USB ports. They get plugged directly into the motherboard and are powered by the motherboard itself most of the time but there are some of them that need to be powered by the computers power supply.

Most people will only buy a computer pre made but for those of you who are daring enough and think you have the skill and knowledge to build your own computer.
