Review of the Super Talent Pico 8gb gold edition. HD Tach results, and write tests done.
Remember the days of the old floppies? *Sigh * – 1.44 MB on a 5.25″ square disc. Now we have ultra-fast and cheap memory – especially in the past year where memory prices have gone down so much, now you can practically.

Here we’re reviewing the new 8 gigabyte super talent pico – also available in 2gb and 4gb sizes. It is a very small flash drive and it is rated at 200X. On Newegg this flash drive costs just $30 shipped! But how well does it perform? Let’s find out!
All benchmarks were done with Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 on a Core 2 Duo e4300 @ 2.43GHz and 2gb of ddr2 750 .
HD Tach
We used the HD Tach program to measure flash drive speeds.
The Super Talent Pico got an average burst speed of about 35.2 mb/s – which isn’t bad for a flash drive! Here are the full results -

Write Tests
We measure how long it takes to transfer a gOS 3 Beta ISO to the flash drive.
Time: It took 1:05 to do, which is about 10.76 MB/sec – not bad, but a bit slower than I expected,
So the final verdict awaits us!
Pros:
Very Small – Could Almost be mistaken for a piece of jewelry (the gold-plated edition).
Read Speeds are Very Fast
8 Gigabyte Storage Space
Same price as “normal sized” flash drives
Cons:
Write Speeds are a tad slow.
Easy to lose
Overall – 9/10
