Set Up an Access Point

How to set up a C54APM wireless access point as “universal repeater”.

  1. Connect directly the Ethernet cable computer-to-router and set-up the Ethernet card in order to get an automatic IP address from the C54APM
  2. Type the default IP address (http://10.0.0.1/) and enter the username and password (admin/admin) and you will get into the Graphic User Interface (GUI) as following;

    There you may find Up time, (time since the device has been turned on)
    Hardware version

    Firmware version (NOTE; in versions prior to 1.25 it may say “runtime code version” instead of “firmware version”

    Mode; (the mode in which the device has been configured, by default: AP, Access Point)

    ESSID: The name of the wireless network that will be broadcasted

    Channel, Security (it would be helpful if the security is disabled for init configurations in both, source and AP in order to skip the possibility to get an error for enter a wrong WPA or WEP encryption code. (When the wireless network is already running without a problem, then configure the wireless security, (pref. WEP, 64 bits HEX)

    To set up the device as “universal repeater”, follow the next steps;

    Click on “basic settings” , scroll down the “mode” menu and select the “universal repeater” mode.

    Fulfill the required information related to the source device (BAND, ESSID, WLAN ESSID) and, when finish, click on “apply” and “continue”

    Then click in the button “Select Site Survey”

    The following pop-up window will appear:

    From there, you should be able to select the wireless network to connect it, select it and click on “done”.

    Unplug the Ethernet cable from the device and place the C54APM v2 in a visible range just between the wireless source (access point o wireless router) and the destination PC or laptop with a wireless card/adaptor.
