Here we review the Eye TV usb stick – Place in oven on gas mark two for five minutes.
Using my Mac to its fullest extent was my intention and I was pleased and surprised to come across the Eye TV stick. There are two parts to the Eye TV, one the hardware which is a compact USB stick which you plug into anyone of your Mac’s 2.0 ports, the second part is the software which is contained on a CD disc. The software loads within seconds and is very easy to follow and understand. Depending in which country you are the Eye TV stick will tune automatically into all available free to air terrestrial and satellite TV programs. I am based in England and my Mac now picks up 121 TV and radio programs and these include all BBC, ITV and some Sky channels. The software also features TV schedules, live TV recording, rewind, pause, frame by frame, picture in picture – in fact anything you possibly want to do with your favorite TV channels. The Eye TV stick retails for about £45.00 in the UK and is available in all counties. In short this piece of kit is the idea gift for the gadget head Mac user!
Unfortunately there is a problem with The Eye TV stick. We purchased our Eye TV stick 12 months ago and it worked perfectly well for 9 months giving us brilliant picture and sound quality. Then over a period of time the stick appeared to fail to pick up a signal. To sort out the problem we would have to unplug the stick from the Mac and then plug it back in again to receive a signal. Eventually the TV stick failed to work at all. Not to be dismayed we searched the internet for the problem and we found the manufacturer helpline webpage. Here we found that our problem was a common one experienced by many of its customers. The website listed 5 solutions to the problem all of which failed to sort out the glitch. As the stick was now out of its warranty period we thought were at the end of the road and ready to bin our tired product.
We tried one more search as a final attempt to find a solution to our dilemma. Here was what we found ……’place your eye TV stick in a warm oven, gas mark 1, for 2 minutes! So in it went , on the rack at the bottom of the oven , 2 minutes exactly , a little ever easy but never mind , and hey presto an instant success – The stick worked perfectly and has done for the past month . How strange – try that one with your IT guru at work
