Five reasons why it is better to buy a Windows Computer than a Mac.
-
Apple’s “I’m a Mac” advertisements portray Macs as virus free and PCs as virus prone. The truth is, however, that viruses, Rootkits, Malware, and Spyware infect Macs and PCs equally. In all the PCs in my family, which is at least 25, not a single one has gotten a virus that wasn’t removed through a simple and painless scan. You can download free anti-virus and anti-spyware programs off the Internet. However, some anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are not available for the Mac. Read next point.
- The simple fact is that almost any software available will run on your PC. Windows hold 90%+ of the market, so it makes sense for people to develop software for the PC. Your Mac however, holds around 8% of the market, so a lot less programs work.
- One of the huge, and I mean HUGE, advantages of buying a PC, is the price. Lets look at a $1,700 Macbook Pros spec. sheet. Here are the basics, 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory. Now, lets look at a $1,600 ($100 cheaper) Gaming PC: ASUS G51Vx-A1, 2.00GHz Intel Core 2 **QUAD**, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX260M with 1GB DDR3 SDRAM. Well, on the PC, the processor is about 45% faster, the RAM is the same, the graphics card is about 150% faster, not to mention the fact that it is $100 cheaper. Lets see how cheap we can get a PC with the same specs as the Mac… Lets look at a Sony Laptop. Same processor, RAM, but FASTER by about 75% graphics card. The price: $900. The PC is 53% of the cost my friends.
- As you can see above, the price is not only lower, but the computer is generally faster. That means you will be more efficient and productive while working of playing. Have I mentioned that gaming on the Mac sucks? Very few developers actually make games for the Mac, and very few of those games that are made for Mac, actually have decent performance.
- I’ll admit it, the Mac has some nice software bundled. But lets take our price difference of $800 for the equivalent PC and buy Windows 7 and a full Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student. Than only knocks off $180 and you are still save $620 by buying a PC. Windows 7 is a step ahead of OSX in many ways, so why don’t you go and Google Windows 7 vs. OSX to see for yourself.

The only thing keeping me away from buying a mac is the most annoying software of 2009, itunes.
I agree, iTunes had this horrible glitch, it might still have it, but whenever you would open it, it would have to configure itself with Windows…I don’t know about Apple computers, but it was horrible!
We have 4 Mac’s in our household and 3 PC’s and I have got to say the Mac’s are way beyond better. They are used by professional musicians, the movie makes are spot on and the Mac just leaves Power point presentations way behind. I suppose they are more grown up than a PC and were not meant just for gaming, however I don’t play games on them so I can’t comment on that. They are much faster than a PC and do not get the amount viruses that PC’s get and they look much sexier! but its down to preference and there is no way I would go back to a PC.
Sorry, I’ll have to disagree with you. I’ve used Macs for my whole life, I’ve owned almost ten of them (I’m still using them now) and I’ve never had any problems with them, they are great machines in my opinion and well worth their price. Not to mention how great they look! Go onto the Apple website and see some huge picts of the new Macs, they looks great…
