The blue screen of death is a nickname of the screen with the message of the Microsoft Windows operating system that something has gone wrong. It usually means that the computer should be restarted using a three finger Salute (ctrl + alt + del). The text on the screen consists of white lettering on a blue background. The term is usually abbreviated as BSOD (or BSOD), or blue screen said.

Windows 3.x is reported in this form is used.

An example that critics of Microsoft is like above, when Bill Gates is the plug and play capabilities of Windows 98 demonstrated. During the presentation, the computer has a Blue Screen of Death show.

Red screen of death.  In some beta versions of Microsoft operating system: Windows Vista, was also a red screen with error messages. This screen is logically known as Red Screen of Death. As of build 5112 of Windows Vista is the Red Screen of Death deleted.

The Red Screen of Death appeared in Windows Vista when errors were detected in the bootloader. Other types of errors were a “normal” Blue Screen of Death.
