Less than 3/8ths an inch thick!
Alcatel, a French phone manufacturer, (via Tom’s Hardware) unvieled a new line of smartphones at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show called the “One Touch Idol”. While lacking a reality show, so to speak, the One Touch Idol does have a certain claim to fame – at 6.45 mm thin, it’s the thinnest smartphone yet made, and is in the running for one of the thinnest phones ever created. (The Samsung U100 is the thinnest phone ever, at only 5.9 mm, but the U100 is only a dumbphone.) While it’s dimensions are quite extraordinary, it’s specs are a merely above-average – a 1.2 GHz dual core running Android Jellybean, and an 8mp camera. Pretty trick, but I’ll keep to the Nexus offerings, those being the flagship offerings, a sort of role model for all other Android phones.
