The Connection Between Mozilla and Google

Why big G needs Mozilla.

There is a certain connection between Google and the Mozilla Corporation (the Mozilla Corporation; the for-profit arm of the Mozilla Foundation). As you may know as a user of Firefox, that Google pays Mozilla a hefty amount for the fact that out-of-the-box, Mozilla sends searches to Google. These royalties from Google amount to ninety-eight percent of Mozilla’s income.

For Google, this is a simple return-on-investment thing, as search traffic is big bucks to this company and the default traffic from Mozilla certainly has to be worth the investment. This deal with Mozilla comes up for renewal – or cancellation, in November 2011.
