Teamviewer for Android – App Review

This is a review for the free TeamViewer app for the Android Tablet/Phone OS. Teamviewer allows you to remotely access a Windows/Mac/Linux computer, or even another Android phone from your cell phone.

Teamviewer is a great program. I have used it for probably 6-7 years on Windows, and was excited when I found out it was available on Android, as I have an Android phone. It certainly met my expectations, and I have been using it for a couple of months now.

This app has a few different uses. You can use it for tech support for a friend/client/family member on the go, from a tablet or a phone. You can also use it to access your home computer remotely. I have done the latter quite a few times, to access files on my home computer while I am on the go.

It does require you to install the free Teamviewer application on your computer, or any computer you are connecting to. This is a very easy process, I have had people complete it in under 30 seconds before. It can be used on Windows, Macintosh, or Linux computers.

One of the great things about Teamviewer, that sets it apart from other remote access apps, is the way the mouse moves. Instead of the expected point to click, where you constantly miss the click, you start with the mouse in a particular spot, and can move your finger anywhere on the screen. It moves the mouse not under your finger, but in the direction you moved your finger. This allows for much more precise clicking, and therefore a much more user-friendly interface.

Also, the app renders the picture on the remote computer based on the speed of the computer and the cell phone’s connection. On 3G, I get a lower resolution picture than I do on 4G. Naturally, this is also dependent on the remote device’s connection, and I’ll be honest, the 4G on my phone is faster than my home Internet speeds.

So, I recommend using this app for all of your remote connection uses. It doesn’t crash or have any issues when I have used it on a Motorola Droid 2, or a Motorola Droid Bionic.
