Snow Leopard vs. Windows 7

Just another day in Best Buy sales.

Today at Best Buy, I confronted a very enthusiastic gentleman looking at the Mac display in our store. When I asked him if he needed any assistance, he replied, “Hell no! I know what I want!” He went on to explain that he has been a devout PC user for years, until recently when he was enlightened by a friend on how fantastically superior the new Mac operation system (Snow Leopard) is to Microsoft’s liberating new operating system, Windows 7. Apparently there is one thing Snow Leopard has that Windows 7 doesn’t that has altered this man’s perception of reality as we know it.

Enlighten me good sir! What is this card Snow Leopard has up it’s sleeve to send Windows to the cleaners yet again?!

Prepare yourself!

Here it comes…

It’s the RAM limitations!!!

Guess how much physical memory Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit can handle?

I don’t know, maybe 16GB?

Nay, 192GB.

Damn, that’s a lot…

Ha! Now guess how much Mac’s Snow Leopard 64-bit can handle???

Uh…

16 exabytes!!!

16 exabytes? That’s 16 billion gigabytes…

This means Snow Leopard supports roughly 83.3 million times more RAM memory than Windows 7.

There. You have it. Go buy a Mac. And make sure you get Snow Leopard, so in three thousand years you can take advantage of it’s god-like physical memory handling capabilities whilst using your Mac to do whatever the hell you would need 16 billion gigabytes to do.

Interesting. But how many computers have that much RAM. 192GB is more than anyone can use anyway.

that is the stupidest article i have ever read. Who cares how much RAM an OS can handle. That is no reason to buy an OS. No computer can even use 192GB and by the time that amount of RAM is common, it will be like Windows 13 that is new!

Perhaps you didn’t catch the sarcasm in the article…

Sarcasm aside, -we don’t know what RAM-requirements programs are going to want a year or two from now. Hell, -anyone remember that famous quote from Bill Gates in the ’80s about “640K ought to be enough for anybody.”

One exabyte is 1 billion gigabytes, -that ought to be enough for anybody!

Mac is the best but Ubuntu is gaining quickly
