Startup Programs

This will help to rid your computer of the unnecessary programs that load up when you turn on your computer.

In order to do this follow these steps: Click ‘Start’ > ‘Run’ > A window opens. Type ‘msconfig’, and press ‘Ok’. In the new window that opens click ‘Startup’. This shows a list of all the programs that start up when you turn on your computer.

Leave this window open, and then go and open an Internet Explorer window. Type in the following web address: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/. This site enables you to type in Startup Programs currently on your computer and find which are essential, unnecessary, and even dangerous to your computer.

Once you have deselected the unnecessary Startup programs click ‘Apply’ > ‘Close’> ‘Restart’. When your computer loads up again, a window pops up. Click to not show ‘this message…when windows starts up’, and then ‘Ok’.
