Open Scouce Software, Can It Compete?

Can open source software compete with the big guys like Microsoft? You would be surprised…

lets face it software is becoming more and more expensive, windows 7 is at least $120 depending on what version you get and can go up to $300. then on top of that you have to buy Office and all of the other apps you use. don’t even get me started on Mac computers.

so here comes open scource software, now lets clarify wat open scource is, open scource is completely free to use and modify. BUT, i also think that if an app for example is free but not open scource it still counts as and open to use.

Now most people dont know this but for almost any program u can find out there, there is a free and open scource alterative that in soem cases is better. the reason y open scource software hasn’t really become to popular is because a lot of people dont know about it. one of the best examples of open scource software becoming really popular is Mozilla Firefox. It has completely taken over the browser industry.

also, open source operating systems are gaining popularity, such and linux and BSD.

So what doe this mean for software companies? it means if they want to stay in the game they are going to have to at least lower they’re prices. i predict sometime in the near future that open scource will dominate.
