Unsure on which of the two is best? Well in this article I will tell you which is best at different characteristics.
Confused about which of the two is better? Do you have no idea on the topic? Well this article will tell you all bout Macs and PCs and which is best! Do you fell like you are on your own and you just can’t decide? This article will clear your mind up and tell you which of the two is better. Please fell free to leave a comment and your opinion.
The Look
Well everybody knows Macs are mostly about the look and its true! Just look at the new Mac Book Air it’s just so cool! So is the Mac mini, which is so small and cute! But some of you might not know that PCs also have pretty cool designs such as the ACER ASPIRE 8920G. However even if you are a big PC fan you have to admit Macs do look better.
Score so far: MAC 1-0 PC
Gaming
All right now! Calm down PC fans! I know that for many years gaming has stopped people from buying Macs because people wanted to play games and Mac didn’t offer them. However now that Boot Camp has been made to Mac OSX Leopard, Mac users can buy windows software and play all the games. But this is using PCs so therefore PCs are without doubt the better of the two as concerns gaming.
Score so far: MAC 1-1 PC
Price
You have to admit the major reason why people buy PCs and not Macs is because of the price of Macs. Macs are a bit overpriced but the Macs are worth it! However, you can buy a PC for only £250 but the lowest priced Mac is around £700 and that’s a Mac mini, which is better than the cheapest PC. Anyway for the price I recon PCs are better as the public can easily afford them unlike Macs. Normally, Macs should win this point as they are cheaper in the long run but I gave the point to PC otherwise it would end up 100-0.
Score so far: MAC 1-2 PC
Viruses
Mac OS X is more secure than any other operating system but this is NOT because hackers don’t make Mac Viruses as apparently “they reach for the bigger audience”. It’s because the UNIX family of operating systems were designed from the ground up to be secure. If you get a trojan horse on a Mac, you cannot damage the system simply because the user it is run under does not have the right access to system files. Compare this to Windows, on which the default user is an Administrator. However if you download PC Doc and scan your Mac you will see that there ARE viruses on your Mac but they do not affect the operating system unlike in Windows.
Score so far: MAC 2-2 PC
Stability
Over the five years of using all different types of Macs, I have to admit that my Mac Mini crashed once with a Kernel Panic and my Mac Book Air crashed after several months use. However the tightly controlled Unix-based operating system is way better at tackling these problems than Windows and so can easily be fixed. On Windows if your computer crashes you might as well chuck it in the bin.
Score so far: MAC 3-2 PC
Speed
Now, nobody can even have any objections on which of the two is better in terms of speed. We all know that Macs are up to ten times faster than PCs which HAVE been proven by scientific test so nobody can say anything.
Score so far: MAC 4-2 PC
There are many more reasons to talk about but they would make this article too long. If you would like to know the rest of the reasons just leave a comment.

pikkon22, while I can’t deny your heart was in the right place when you wrote this, there are a few things I have to call out.
You wrote “Mac OS X is more secure than any other operating system…”, which, to be honest, cannot be said with sound conscience. Don’t get me wrong, I agree that Macs are highly secure (with armour-clad root-level access, who could deny that?), but there are plenty of OSs out there that can be made even more secure (Linux/Unix distributions). OS X can be made even more secure, too (with the underlying Unix base), but many user’s don’t know how.
Admittedly, most users don’t have need of super-high defenses on their computer, so I’d say the Linuxes and Unixes and OS X fall into the same grouping.
Essentially…there’s Windows, which is near impossible to secure, and then most all other main-stream OSs, which are fairly easy (if one knows how to do so).
Honestly, the closer to a *Nix platform your OS is, chances are the better it will be (more secure, easier to develop on, easier to personalize). But that’s for a strictly developing/number crunching diet. For all the whistles and bells come to be expected on computers these days, the best OS changes from person to person.
All in all…you have good points, but I still think that the Mac v. PC debate should be settled by whom it concerns after doing a bit of research into the matter.
My opinions on the topic of choice aside, it is poor writing to say that something “HAVE [sic] been proven by scientific test so nobody can say anything” without citing a source (even with a source, this could be phrased quite a bit better…but that’s fodder for a writing class, not a reply box).
If you have a scientific fact you’re including for emphasis, put a little time into getting a source for that fact. I know it can be an arduous task, but it’ll be worth it when you see that you’ve written a more convincing piece of writing.
Again, nice effort put into this piece, but next time try to include some sources for your facts (lest they be called ‘claims’ by unbelieving commentators), and tidy up the statement structure a bit – word choice can go much further than capitalizing certain words.
Very nice article, but there is one thing you left out in the gaming section. Now that Mac’s have Intel cores, the Electronic Arts company has been making many games for Mac. I own CoD4, NFS Carbon, Rainbow Six Raven Shield, Command and Conquer 3, and FlatOut 2, just to name a few. They all run amazing (well, NFS Carbon lags the odd time for about 2 seconds, but other than that the games work flawlessly. However, PC’s have the advantage of having all the old games available, Mac’s only have the new games available now (but that is still pretty good for Mac.. won’t be long before it is a tie for Mac & PC on the games side).
As for price, Mac’s aren’t over priced, you get your money’s worth. One reason why PC’s are so cheap is that Microsoft doesn’t make/select all of their hardware, whereas Apple chooses the best hardware for the Mac. So by having 3rd party companies making PC hardware, it can make a lot of competition among companies like HP, Dell, etc., making them have to lower prices. I wont lie, you can buy a lot of PC’s for the price of a Mac, but even the cheapest Mac’s are high quality. Heck, I bought a $1,200 PC and it was dead in a month or 2. I even had $80/year anti-virus. My Mac cost me around $2,200, and already has lasted me over 3 months, and shows no signs of slowing down.
But I love your article, I couldn’t agree any more, glad you noticed the fact it is based on UNIX, most people don’t realize that Mac’s are more immune to viruses due to that reason.
I would only buy a PC is it would never be online, and was solely for video games. But if someone wants online play, it’s probably better to get a Mac. But even with bootcamp, I’d say Mac should still win credit there, as you are running Windows on your Mac, but are able to switch back to your Mac side and get all the other Mac advantages. Most people already have a copy of Windows that they can use with bootcamp, so it makes no sense not to switch, but that’s just my opinion.
Great article.
