Judge Your Book Cover-how to Make a Book Cover for Kindle

People do judge a book by its cover. But there is only a small number of characteristics that are absolutely needed. If it is a non-fiction book the most important thing is that the title be readable. It must very clear to the viewer at Amazon what the title says. If not, they will not buy your book.

If you look at the list of Kindle books on any page listing the top books in any category, you will see that usually the number one best selling book, which is the first one on top, has a very readable title. As you go down the list, the titles are clearly less and less readable, until you can hardly tell at all what they say. It is very important your text is big enough to be understood!

Another important factor is color. Bright, solid colors are best. Half tones, without strong contrast to the other colors on the cover, are not as effective as bright primary colors, (red, yellow, blue) and should be not be our choice. Also, no more than 3 colors should be used for your cover.

How do you know which colors to choose? Orange, a particularly strong attention getter, second only to red, does not have the alarming effect that red has. It is a choice place to start. Try to work it in to your covers.
