Is The Macbook Overpriced?

If you’re wondering which computer you should be getting, and you’re considering getting a MacBook, then it can’t have escaped your attention that there is a lot of talk about the fact that they cost a lot of money, and some people don’t think that they’re worth the amount of money that you have to pay for it. One of the things that I have noticed is that a lot of the people who talk about them not being worth the money are those who quite simply cannot afford one, and will therefore never own one. Although that may seem a little harsh, it is very rare that you see someone who owns a Mac who says that they are not worth the money and that they wish they never bothered.

One of the things that you have to bare in mind is that you are paying a certain amount of money for the brand name that you’re purchasing. Whenever you get a laptop that is a high end model, you will always have to do this, but it is entirely up to you whether you want to make that decision or not. Once you have done this, you need to think about what you’re actually going to be using your laptop for. The good thing about Apple products are that they are very good at doing things involving the media, for example making videos or composing music. In fact, there are some pieces of software that are only available on Apple devices, and this means that if you are wanting to go into certain careers, then an Apple laptop might be the best thing for you. If you’re a student and the only thing that you’re going to want to do is sit indoors social networking, then you probably won’t be making the most of the things that the machine can really do.

One of the other things that not a lot of people tend to talk about is the battery life of an Apple PC. When I first got mine, it would last up to 12 hours without a charge if I was just surfing around on the internet. Now, it is a year old, but it will still last around ten hours without ever having to be plugged in at all. This is great for me, because my job involves me being away from the house for most of the day, and it means that usually, although I will take my power cable with me for emergencies, I do not have to use this. 

Another thing is that Apple products generally last a lot longer than other brands. I have a friend who has had her Mac for 12 years now, and I had 4 laptops in the space of that time. I will have spent more money in the long term on my laptops than she will have done on her one machine that she still uses. You can buy replacement batteries for around £100, and you should only really have to do this every couple of years, which means that it is a solid investment in the long term.
