Delete unused and useless files.

Wondering where all your disk space is? Overdisk analises and shows you a clear diagram. By hovering the mouse over the pieces you’ll see which maps carry alot of files. To make free space agian delete all the pictures and video’s and other junk you don’t use. If you want to keep pictures or video’s (like memories of stuff), you can always burn them to a cd or dvd and delete them from you harddisc. To get Overdisk follow this link

Delete unused software.

To check and delete the software you don’t use or is’nt neccesary to keep go to

Start -> Control Panel -> Add or remove software.

Then wait a second till the program is ready searching all the software on your pc. When it’s ready you will see a list like this one on fig1.

If You click on a program in the list you will see how often it is used and the last time you used it. If you want to delete a program ckick the [Change/Remove] button right on the program.

Clean up the mess.

After you deleted crappy software and pictures, etc. Its time to clean the harddisc itself. Now we will use a program named “Ccleaner”. This program cleans all the crap you can’t find on your pc. I use this program every week. The link to this piece of nice freeware is http://www.Ccleaner.com

Defragment the harddisc.

This is a really easy part because there is software for this on windows itself. Just go to

My Computer -> and right click the harddisc -> select Properties -> a window like in fig 2 pops up.

Then go to the Tools Tab and click defragment now.

 Clean The registery

Allmost all the software you install makes keys in the register. After you uninstall the software it keeps the keys and your register will have alot of useless stuff in it. A good freeware program to clean this is “Regseeker”. This program searches the keys that don’t have a fucntion on your pc anymore and it automaticely creates a backup in case something goes wrong.(which never happens to me before).
