Q is an open source Cocoa port developed by Mike Krononberg and Cordney based on QEMU.

Q is basically an x86 emulator that allows you to install windows, linux or any other x86-based OS on your Mac.

It is available as a universal binary which means you can use to install windows on both the intel and PPC or PowerPC-base Macintosh.

Now there are many versions on Q emulator but with different functions. Some versions of Q are powerful than others. But here i am going to show you only two versions on Q which i found powerful. Although, i haven’t tested all the versions but these two versions of Q seems powerful than the others when you critically look at their descriptions.

The first version i downloaded and use was the Q-0.9.0a89.This was very tremendous. And being my first time to have windows XP running on my Mac was an awesome experience.

The problem with this version is that it loads very slowly sometimes. This version is unpredictable. Sometimes, it runs Windows normal on my Mac and some days also you will see windows performing at a snail pace.

One advantage on using this version of Q is the easy way of removing CD from the Machines. Also browsing the internet on the windows is also quick and normal as seen on windows PCs. Installing windows programs too is tremendous.

The next version i tested was the Q-9.1d118. This version saves windows very fast and also load every fast. But i see this version is not good for my Mac. Removing CDs from the machine is a problem and you i didn’t encounter this problem with the first version. Loading windows is also very very very slow. It can even take ten minutes before Windows will load.

Also one thing which gives me headache using this version is the time you will invest waiting for the start menu and the icons. Obviously, this version is going to give you headache. But i don’t know the kind of Mac you are using so if the first version fails on your Mac then you have to try this version.
