Apple Gets More Users in US

Apple Computers is getting more customers in US, with as much as 3% rise in total customer base within a single year. This is a report on the research conducted by NPD Group, which revealed this interesting fact.

The market share of Apple Computers, Inc. in US has risen by 3% since last year, according to the Household Penetration Study, which is conducted annually by NPD Group. The survey revealed that 12% of computer owners in US now own Macintosh computers. It was only about nine percent last year. Not only that, the survey confirmed one of the widespread rumors that Mac owners earned more than their PC-owning counterparts, and also had a considerably greater fetish for owning multiple, expensive digital toys.

The survey had many previously unconfirmed and startling facts to reveal. Eighty five percent of Mac owners stated that they also owned PCs and other expensive digital equipment. In fact, 66% of Mac owners who were part of the survey revealed that their homes had three or even more computers.

Sixty three percent of Apple Mac owners who participated in the survey indicated that they also owned at least one iPod, which is considerably high compared to the general population, only thirty six percent of which has the privilege of owning one of these.

18% of the participating Mac owners also owned an LCD TV of 50 inches or greater dimensions, according to the survey. Compared to that, only eight percent of the general population of US owns LCD TVs of similar dimensions.

Stephen Baker, Vice President of Industry Analysis in NPD, commented, “Thirty-six percent of Apple computer owners reported household incomes greater than $100,000, compared to 21 percent of all consumers.”
