Go onto Word, hold down alt and type in a random number. It will generate an awesome symbol.

Thanks for reminding me where the section symbol is “the squiggly S”. I usually customize macros only for symbols which I use most at home and on the job. I use the drop down menus to click on and insert the less popular symbols. I do use the degree symbol in legal descriptions a lot and I can’t determine whether it would be 167 or 248. Not to worry though — I copy and paste a lot too! Thanks for the tip!
I use the Microsoft Works word processor at home and save my docs to MS Word as necessary. Works is very limited as to MS Word capabilities. At the job, where I’m networked to MS Word, it’s a different story. Works has a few special characters under the drop down menu “Insert” then “Special Characters” or choose “Symbols” if desired. I believe MS Word has this drop down menu with similar even faster shortcuts to special characters and symbols. Just in case these alt function keys get troublesome, scroll under the “Insert” drop down menu and click on the special character or symbol desired, then “Insert”. At the same time, note the “shortcut” (if any) that shows when clicking on a character or symbol. For example, here are three of the few shortcuts I have in Works:
© is alt + Ctrl + c
™ is alt + Ctrl + t
® is alt + Ctrl + r
You are very welcome for the reminder. I have some more upcoming guides if you would care to check them out. Thanks and god bless!!!
