A Big Risk to Human Life? Come Think of It!

What if machines may become more intelligent than humans? There are some interesting articles about the possibility of making computers smarter than humans. However, these computers were not yet that enhanced of becoming a hazard until the admonitions from Science-fiction movies, the futurists, and writers.

Can’t Do Without

Computers are already a part of human life. They help make life easier than ever.  Homes and offices can’t do without these machines. They work great– even the most basic use of simple instruction already makes them super indispensable. Computers help solve complex problems in seconds; convenient management of financial transactions are now possible; vacation booking is done in a snap without leaving home; weapons now have incredible accuracy with the help of GPS guiding map system; friends and relatives can be reached within seconds and right at the comfort of your own home and a lot more.

Life without Computers

Can you imagine life without them? Computers continue to change our lives. Yes, the world is revolving around these machines. However, humans are to be blamed for making machines that destroy life.  Guns for example are made by humans. These machines can’t kill–its humans who do.

There is the possibility that computers will rule the world. And since its humans who made these machines, they have to bear in mind the principles of robotics by Science-fiction author Isaac Asimov. These principles not only set out good guide on the behavior of robots and machines, they also warned humans the importance of human life- its value.

Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics

1. Robots must never harm human beings or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. Robots must follow instructions from humans without violating rule 1.
3. Robots must protect themselves without violating the other rules.

The probability of ending the brutality of humans will become evident once a super computer is invented–this would be the ultimate triumph of humans.  To be honest, computers have the potential to be smarter than humans. It may take long but the possibility is worth it.  Perhaps it’s time that we all heed to Asimov’s Laws.
